L.A. Based Chainsaw Rainbow, formerly of the stoner rock project Motordrone and the ambient project Graffiti 61, is back with an album titled "Pink Noise Overdrive." He played all instruments and sang on each of the seven songs which were recorded entirely on a 4-track cassette recorder over a two week period in the spring of 2021.
Chainsaw Rainbow is a self-taught musician influenced by loud noisy guitars who now creates his own brand of shoegaze, drone, and lo-fi psychedelic sound. When we asked him about his early inspirations he said, "I used to play with records on the turntable making them warp in and out and play them in reverse. I thought they sounded better that way."
At just over 20 minutes in length, "Pink Noise Overdrive" is short enough to listen to in one sitting and represents some of this prolific artist's best work to date, highlighted by the standout track "Like Candy."
